Behind
My Own Paint
To
start off, if you do not know, there is a group of people called Juggalos, and
they enjoy the group The Insane Clown Posse. And I am one of those awesome
people, and will be till the day I die. We are all over the world and we will
never die. But enough about that, the real reason I am writing this is to
spread the message of a fantastic book called Behind the Paint by one of the
members on the Insane Clown Posse, or ICP, Joe Bruce A.K.A. Violent J. The book
talks about a lot of things, such as what J has to go through to get to where
he is at today, and also the good and bad times about his life. I don't enjoy
reading books, but I would recommend this book to anyone, Juggalo or not.
The
book starts off from his birth, and goes on to talk about his home life and how
poor they are. He explains how his dad left as a kid and J's mother went
through some hard times finding another man. A great story J tells is about how
him and his brother are playing outside when they were children. While playing
they see and butterfly and catch it. after catching it they give it a home in a
jar with grass and other butterfly things, but feel bad about keeping it captive
so agree the next day they will let it go. Sadly, the butterfly did not make
it, so they buried it and made a promise to apologize to the butterfly when
they die as well. this is a great story, because later in the book, when he is
in his twenties, he explains that the world is a dirty place, and no matter
what we do, we will all become dirty one day. But he does say there are two points,
in our lives, when we are the purest of heart. one is while we are a kid. I
believe this to be true because when you are a kid you don't about looks or how
people act, all you are about is playing in the yard with other kids and have a
good time. the other time is when you are old, and I mean like 80-90 years old.
the point in your life when you have either seen or done everything there is to
do, and you understand how cruel the world is. What I got from all that is live
your life the way you want, because once you were pure and even though you may
get dirty, you will always be clean and pure again in the end.
After
all that fun, J starts to explain the hard time him and his best friend, Joe
Utsler A.K.A. Shaggy 2 Dope, have trying to make their dream come true, to
become famous rappers. Yes, I know what you're thinking, another book about
what they went through and all that good stuff, but this story is better. they
not only recorded, by themselves and made some good music doing that, and not
only did they sign with Hollywood Records, record a couple albums. they also,
by themselves, make their own label and made it to what we now know as
Psychopathic Records. Did I mention it was BY THEMSELVES! all they had was two rappers,
a manager, and a logo, and took those three things and made them one of the
most well known companies in the world. Most people that have a hard life and
want to become a artist, they have help at some point in their carrier, but not
ICP all on their own from bottom to top. One thing that kept them going, was
the doubt everyone would give them. all the papers and other artist, basically
everyone said because they wear paint and rap about the stuff they do they
would never make it, that they would fail and no one would like them. But all
they did was laugh all the way to the back and prove everyone wrong. And still
do today. The message I got from this paragraph is that no matter what people
tell you, or how hard you got it, if you put your mind to it and believe it to
be true, you can make anything happen, and by yourself at that.
Through
out this paper there may be things you don't understand and hopefully there are
thing you do. But the one thing I want people to get out of this paper, is that
do what you love and let no one make you think you can't. You are the only one
who can make you dream come true, whether it be a teacher or musician, or even a
sports player. The one thing you have to remember is never give up on what you
love, because without dreams, there would only be nightmares. The two Detroit
boys took literally nothing, and made it into something people can believe in
and hope for. If two crazy, painted up, Faygo throwing, weird, clowns can make
it big, then you can do whatever you put your mind too.
After
the book, my eyes were opened wide to the true meaning of being a Juggalo. it
is hard in today's world to find love and acceptance, even in your own family
sometimes; however who I am and who I want to be will never be judged by anyone
who is a Juggalo, and no one can or will ever take that away from me. The true
meaning of being a juggalo is in this paper you have just read. I knew the
truth; however was unaware of it, and was only show to me through this book,
and couldn't be any more happy about it. This paper may be over 1000 words long
but I can sum up the whole paper in one sentence. No matter how hard I am throw
down, or how much I may be hated, I am a juggalo through and through with
nothing but love for my fellow Juggalos, and no one person or rough times in my
life will ever change that. WHOOP WHOOP!!
