final

There is a fine line between high school in a movie and in real life. In the movies, “Neapolitan Dynamite” and “10 Things I Hate About You”, they take what people think high school will be like, and exaggerate it. It’s not all bullies and popular kids, geeks and Goths, not even jocks. It’s not all love stories and fantasies either. High school is what you make of it. Whether it was good or bad or even if you are still attending, people have to remember that it’s only for a short period of time and won’t last forever. But just because it may be exaggerated some does not mean it is not a real problem. Bullying is a real problem in high school and it makes even bigger problems. Another thing that is real is drama, and is it the worst thing of all. Drama rules a lot of people in high school because that is what makes social groups thrive and survive. When I was in high school all I would hear every day was how this person did this, or even who was doing who. Almost every day I would hear something different about something so stupid, but that is what drives high scholars is drama. What high school is really about is making well, long lasting relationships, getting good grades, and preparing for the college life.

What high school is really about is making good, long lasting relationships. One thing that happens in movies is people becoming best friends. Normally it’s a new kid that does not really know how everything works at the school, but then a person bout the same popularity level as him will show him the ropes and who to talk to and avoid. In this case its napoleon and Cameron. Both are new and have no friends, but padro helps napoleon and Michael helps Cameron. I had the same situation. I really didn’t know anyone, but me and this kid just kind of clicked and were friends all through high school. Everyone needs friends, because if not then you would do everything alone and that’s no fun. Friends help you when times are tough and just need someone there for you. Even stand by your side if you are in a fight or argument. They should always have your back, and vise versa. And the hope is they are your friend all through high school, and even after. I have a few people I still talk to from high school, and we could not be better friends. Friends are also great when you accomplish something awesome like and award or even get a good grade on a paper; they are there to celebrate with you. We will always need friends whether it be school or after school is done. Friends help when you need it and always make life fun.

What high school is really about is getting good grades. Getting good grades, in real life, is the only way to get into a good college for a good education. In the movies, they really don’t focus on grades, and focus more on drama and love stories. Which is what makes the movie so good, because to be honest if it was all about grades it would be a boring movie and no one would watch it. You never really see one of the main characters with bad grades, or getting yelled at or grounded at home from bad grades. However that is not always the same way in the real life. I got yelled at and lost things because my grades were not the best, and it really sucks. But most of the time they get accepted to their college they wanted like Kat did in”10 things I hate about you”. Grades are the only thing between a great and good college, because that is all they look at is grades and maybe a few extracurricular activates. I didn’t do so well in school, because I just plain didn’t like it, but my consequence is I can’t get in to Yale or Harvard or even Ohio State. Grades are important and help us achieve in school and later in life, because it shows you learn something while in school. They may not show the significance of grades in either of the movies, but they are important for a great future.

What high school is really about is preparing for the college life. Some of the things high school does to get you ready for college are obvious. Like writing papers and homework and big essays. But it also starts teaching you about life after you are done with school all together. Papers, tests, and yes even math are all an important part of prepping for college, so you have an idea what it will be like. All the stupid stuff like drama and social groups are thrown out the window once you hit college. My high school was college prep. School, so I don’t want to say that I got more than other schools, but maybe a little more than other schools. High school does not only start getting you ready for college, but also real like after all school is completed. Not only with some of the personal experiences, but some of the classes have you taken. One of the classes I know I will use in college and real life is financial literacy. It taught me how to manage money, learned about house payments, and much more. But there was more I learned, like about writing papers like this one. Things like math and science is something we deal with in our everyday life, so it is important we learn it for college and life.  All in all college is just a continuation of high school just more advanced and more mature.

In conclusion everyone has their own high school experience, but the most important part is the get good grades, prep for college and make lasting friendships. High school has its ups and downs, but the most important thing is that you learn and achieve. High school is a learning experience for not only information on math and English, but also interaction with different kind of people. Learning how to deal with people early will help later in life. When you learn early you can be more patient with them and understand better.  Another thing high school can provide is life experience for what will forth later in life, so you get an idea about what it will be like. In the movies you see people fall in love at first sight, popular kids bullying geeks and losers, and even the predictable loser gets the girl and popular kid is embarrassed in front of everyone. And although it may seem fun and cool, but not all that stuff happens. Yes people date all four years, but usually end by the end of high school. People get bullied and it hurts, but it’s not always so bad. But one thing I never saw while in school is people literally fight over a girl and the less popular guy conquer. That’s all in the movies, but what is important is really learning something while in high school. Because it is the hardest four years of your life, and does not last long. High school is what you want it to be, whether it be the best or worst four years of your life, but if you get something out of it then you got the true meaning of high school.
